PWAM Malindi Town Cleanup – March 2026 Community Update
The spirit of community was on full display during the March edition of the PWAM Malindi Town Cleanup. What began as a simple call to action brought together a powerful network of residents, organizations, and volunteers, all united by one goal, keeping Malindi clean, safe, and beautiful.

From early in the day, participants showed up with energy and commitment, working side by side to clear waste from key areas around town. The impact was immediate and meaningful, not just in the visible transformation of the environment, but in the shared sense of responsibility and pride among everyone involved.

By the end of the cleanup, a total of 90.46 kg of waste had been collected and properly sorted. This included 49.16 kg of general waste, 13.3 kg of plastic, 23.3 kg of glass, 4.2 kg of rubber, and 0.5 kg of hazardous waste in the form of syringes. The presence of hazardous waste is a reminder of the importance of organized cleanups not only for environmental protection but also for safeguarding public health.

This initiative once again demonstrated that collective action can deliver real results. Every bag collected, every street cleared, and every hour volunteered contributes to a cleaner and healthier Malindi.
PWAM extends its sincere appreciation to all the individuals, groups, and institutions who took part in making this cleanup a success. The collaboration between community members, local organizations, and public institutions continues to be a key driver of these efforts.
As we move forward, the message remains clear: maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility. Through continued partnership and community engagement, we can build on this momentum and ensure that Malindi remains a town we are all proud to call home.
Together, we keep Malindi clean. ♻️🌍
